- Everywhere I look I see paintings that need to be painted. I love to paint the drama of shadows and golden light of early morning, and the wonderful orange glow and deepening shadows of late afternoon. As a painter I get to experience so many beautiful locations and really absorb them, not just drive by. I might be in the country on a dirt road, I often get invited to private ranches to see more beautiful scenes to paint. What an incredible way to spend time outdoors. I find a scene that grabs my interest, really excites me. I set up my easel, and start working on a painting and get so involved with what’s in front of me and all around me it’s like time stands still. I don’t notice the discomforts that come with painting outdoors (bugs, heat, cold, wind), I’m just absorbed in the beauty all around me. At that time, it’s as if I exist on another plane, that plane of existence that is all the best of man and spirit. See my website at www.laurelsherrie.com
